| Arts Council launches instrument scheme | ||||

With most of us tightening the purse strings at the moment, buying a new instrument may not be an affordable luxury. Or at least that was the case.Take It Away is a nationwide scheme set up by the Arts Council to allow anybody over the age of 18 to buy an instrument. The scheme allows a person to apply for a loan of up to £2,000, interest free, with which to buy a musical instrument. The loan is then paid back in nine monthly instalments. Although it is only open to over 18's, adults wishing to purchase an instrument on behalf of a child are welcome. The scheme is available at any of the 230 participating music shops across the country and there are many taking part here in the North East. Pop in to any of the following stores or visit www.artscouncil.org.uk/takeitaway for more information. Air Guitars (Newcastle and Gateshead), Dennis Todd Music (Bedlington) Dolphin Music (Gateshead), Ebgb Music (Durham), JG Windows (Newcastle and Gateshead), Middlesbrough Music (Middlesbrough), Pianos of Gosforth (Gosforth), Ron's Music (Darlington) and Sounds Live (Newcastle). |
