Sunderland City Council 'Christmas Lights Switch On' takes place on Thursday 18 November 2010 from 6pm at the rear of the Civic Centre, Burdon Rd. The event starts 6pm with the Sun FM Roadshow and includes performances from the 'City Sings' Choir and local female solo artist Ashleigh Lowes.
The Mayor of Sunderland will introduce the guests and the Christmas Tree lights will be switched on at 7pm before a Fireworks display is followed by peformances from We Beat The System, a highly promising young alternative band made up of local lads already making waves in the industry after winning national competition 'Live & Unsigned 2010', a VJ Set from Liam Carlin a.k.a Basic Production and The Generals, a well established indie 4 piece from Sunderland fresh from playing Split Festival and ready to release a new single in early 2011.
