Gavin has taught music technology subjects at the Bunker for four years including subjects such as DJ'ing, Podcast production and production skills. Gavin also lectures in Sound and Music Technology at the University of Sunderland and delivers BTEC Performing Arts DJ skills modules at several Secondary schools in the City. His interest in electronic music started when he was 17 when he received his first “pair of decks”. After studying music technology at Newcastle college and honing his production skills in his own studio, he went on to releas his own material on independent dance label ‘Tune Inn’. This initial success led Gavin to start his own record label “Freeqshow Recordings” which sold over 2000 units in it's short life. Gavin has also had many DJ residencies throughout the North East.

Frank has delivered spray art workshops to young people throughout the city for the past three years. Sessions cover a range of techniques from sketchbook work to stenciling and freehand mural painting. Frank has been spray painting for ten years and since gaining a National Diploma in Multimedia Design from the North East Surrey College of Technology he moved to Sunderland and completed a BA in Fine Art. He also runs his own photography business and has recently opened up Studio Q, a space for artists in Sunniside. Frank shown work in Washington, Sunderland and Washington DC and recently exhibited at the NewcastleGateshead Art Fair. Frank regularly undertakes commissioned artwork throughout the North East. |

Nicola has worked within the arts/cultural fields, specialising for the last 5 years in the delivery of arts education to a range of community, children’s and educational groups. The workshops have often been developed in response a specific exhibition or theme within gallery spaces as well as outreach. Nicola has completed her PGCE while lecturing at a local FE college, and has consistently worked with a variety of community and hard to reach groups, from eight years old and upwards, with craft, art and photography-based activities. She has been involved in project management and fund raising for cultural activities and has organised of a number of small scale exhibitions. Her personal practise involves the exploration ‘simulated environments’ and her most recognised body of work to date is entitled ‘Enclosures’ and incorporates both public and private spaces, from courthouses to restaurants, and hotels to educational institutions. This body of work has been exhibited on a national level and her current practice continues to build on the themes this work tackles. |
